PARDELHAS
Story By FIBS
Two vessels owned by the Pardelhas Fishing Company may be seized and auctioned off after a court ruling that the Company owes $165,000.00 to Maritime agent, Ultramar.
The Pardelhas and Amerale have spent the last two years in Punta Arenas, after a battle resulting in crewmembers refusing to leave the vessel. The Captain and Crew abandoned the vessel and have pending law suites with the Pardelhas Fishing Company for alleged unpaid salaries and other benefits.
Both vessels are currently situated near Isabel Island, with damaged engines and one is grounded.
Registrar, John Rowland, told us today that the Pardelhas Fishing Company, which is locally registered, will be struck off the list of registered companies in October, after local director, Roger Edwards, and Company Secretary, Kevin Kilmartin resigned earlier this year.
The remaining Company Directors, who are Portuguese haven’t answered any correspondence from the Registrar General since March.
Mr. Rowland told us that there was a provision in the law that a Company is to be removed from the register if this happens. The Pardelhas was Falkland Islands Flagged earlier this year but Customs couldn’t confirm today whether it still is due to Robert King being out of the Islands.
