Clarin has a small report today saying the Foreign Minister Rafael Bielsa will go to the Ezeiza at 11 o’clock today, together with members of the Commission for the Families of the Fallen, to visit the Monument that is about to go to Darwin.

Yesterday INFOBAE (and La Nacion in late news on Tuesday) confirmed that the requirement for passports to be stamped meant that no Argentine government official would be going to the inauguration of the Monument. It reported Eduardo Valdes. Head of Cabinet at the Argentine Foreign Ministry as saying “We believe that no Argentine functionary needs to ask for a visa to go to the Malvinas”.

There was a short report on Channel Nine news last night of the return of the Argentine yacht Mistico to Buenos Aires. She came in with flags flying. The report described the voyage as “historic” (see Note), but it was not a hostile report. The captain made a point of saying that he had been well treated by the Islanders. Neither Clarin nor La Nacion have any mention of this.

INFOBAE has a report of a Financial Times article in which Argentina denies that it has closed its airspace to charter flights to the Falklands but says that they must come from Buenos Aires and use Argentine transport

This is the first one since the Malabar some years ago (that caused a lot of trouble), and the first since the war coming directly from Buenos Aires.
