CUDDLY TOYS SOLD IN AID OF CANCER SUPPORT AND AWARENESS TRUST
By J. Brock (FINN)
A sale of cuddly toys took place at the West Store on Saturday, 11 October 2003 in aid of the Cancer Support and Awareness Trust. October is breast cancer awareness month and to help with that awareness, there were pamphlets available for those who wanted to learn the symptoms and methods of breast examination. Also being sold for donations were ribbons and home made biscuits adorned with icing in the shape of a looped pink ribbon.
The event was organised by Bargains Galore Charity Shop and its Manager, Anya Cofre, helped to sell the items along with Jean Lewis and Shiralee Collins.
The sale began at 1000 and people quickly frequented the stand and bought goods like teddy bears, dinosaurs, donkeys, troll dolls and bunny rabbits. As yet, it is not known how much was raised for this worthy cause. FINN will update in due course.
