Investment Guide
The St Helena Government has produced an inward investment guide that provides potential inward investors with relevant information about the Island. This document has been available on the Internet and can now be downloaded at
www.sthelenaonline.com in portable document format (PDF).It is also available as a package from the Office of the Chief Secretary, the Saint Helena Development Agency, the Commercial Representative in South Africa, and the SHG UK Representative in the UK.
The guide is available in full colour and provides information on the business environment, employment and the workforce, the economy, infrastructure, transport and communications and more.
Commenting on the document, Government Economist Adrian Green said: "The Inward Investment guide is a very positive step. It tells investors in simple and easy to read language what they need to know about the Island and the opportunity that St Helena offers. The most important aspect of the guide is that it confirms that St Helena is open for business! The guide will be updated regularly, so if there are ways that you can see it could be improved, then please be part of the inward investment effort - let us know." He added: "If you know of a foreign investor who might be interested in coming here why not give us a call?"
Commenting on the Guide's usage, Mr Adam Kossowski (SA Commercial Representative) noted that a number of copies of the guide had already been distributed in the short time since its launch.
"Copies of the Inward Investment Guide have been handed to various potential investors in past months, Chambers of Commerce in Cape Town and Pietermartizburg, as well as other investment and business-interest groupings." added Mr Kossowski. "The overall impression is that as an investment destination, St Helena's promotional capacity is slowly moving into the mainstream in terms of media usage".
The positive thing about having the guide available online is that it can be accessed anywhere in the world by potential investors who have Internet access instead of just being available as a hard copy in St Helena, the UK and South Africa.
