In April Messy Church is celebrating not only Easter, but two birthdays as well! Messy Church started in UK 10 years ago this month and Messy Church Stanley has just reached its 2nd birthday.
Since starting in the Town Hall in April 2012, Messy Church has popped up at a flea market, exhibited art work in the Seamens Mission and the community library, held a Messy Sheep Advent Trail, made a patchwork banner and produced mugs with a Falklands Messy Sheep logo, designed by Helen Davis.
Messy Church is not just for children people of all ages are welcome to try their hand at crafts and activities, explore the Bible through story, song and prayer, and share a simple meal. Nor is it just for church members everybody is invited to come and join in the fun. There is no admission charge and the only requirement is that pre-school and IJS children must be accompanied by an adult.
The next meeting of Messy Church is in the Parish Hall on Sunday April 13th from 4-6p.m. The many Easter crafts and activities include scratch art and painting, making cards, bookmarks and bracelets, and learning how to make tussock crosses and Easter gardens. And in view of the triple celebration, there will be a party buffet with Hot Cross Buns and birthday cake.
